Staci is originally from the Chicago land area, but has called Charles
City/Bassett her home for over 24 years. She is a veteran of the Gulf
War, serving in the US Navy from 1988 – 1992. Her insurance career began
when she joined Shankland-Dix Insurance and Nora Springs Insurance in
1999. In 2012 she purchased the Shankland Insurance agency from Steve
Shankland, aka Ackerson Insurance Services.
Her most recent accomplishments have been purchasing the Old Charley
Western Railroad building and completely remodeling and repurposing the
building to office space to house the insurance agency, three lovely airbnb
apartments for short term housing as well as 15 storage
units available for rent off the back of the building. From this project,
she was awarded the 2019 Neal Smith Entrepreneur of the Year Award by the
Small Business Development Center (Iowa) for her outstanding business and
her commitment to the community.
She is married to Stacy (no typo!), they have 4 children and 5
grandchildren. She’s also a big animal lover – currently sharing her home
with her 5 fur babies (2 dogs and 3 cats). She loves flower gardening and
landscaping! She’s an avid traveler, willing to try just about any trip or
adventure.
She enjoys serving others, and has been a volunteer for many organizations
in her community. Most notably, she’s held a regular volunteer position
with the local theater, the local Elks Lodge as well as serving on a State
level for the Elks as their Accident Prevention and Insurance Committee
Chair. Staci is also a member of the Charles City Rotary Club.
